CCODP has already committed a first pledge of $50,000 to Caritas Haiti, which runs 200 medical clinics in the country but is in dire need of financial resources to respond to the growing humanitarian needs of this growing humanitarian in crisis. “Caritas Haiti can count on our support to help them provide first aid supplies, food, shelter and other basic necessities. Our thoughts are with the people of Haiti in this time of crisis and we are anxiously awaiting news from our partners there. We are concerned for their safety and well-being,” said Michael Casey, Executive Director of CCODP. All donations received by CCODP will be sent directly to its partners on the ground in Haiti, mainly Caritas Haiti. Donations, as usual, can be made in two ways:
The Canadian Organization for Development and Peace is one of the “eligible Canadian organizations.” The money it collects for and puts into its relief projects in Haiti will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the federal government. http://www.devp.org/devpme/eng/international/haiti-eng.html __________________________________________ All Roads Lead Home Diocesan re-start and a city-wide kickoff of the All Roads Lead Home Brochure Adopt a Homeless Family programme Jan. 30, 2010, 10:00 a.m.– 2:30 p.m., at St. Thomas More Parish, in Calgary.
